The Peace of God

Good Afternoon All,

In times like these, everyone can use some encouragement. Tuesday morning a local pastor prayed for me after learning about the passing of my brother Clarence. He prayed and drew my attention to Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

After I got off the phone, the Lord drew my attention to the peace of God that passes all understanding. I then turned to that scripture and dwelled on it. All of a sudden, HIS Peace became my peace.

Words cannot explain it, HIS Peace is truly amazing. There are problems on every side: The Coronavirus, the hospital is on lockdown and I cannot see my dying mother, my brother died unexpectedly the day before we were to take my mother off the machine.

All this and other difficulties with which I have to deal as Pastor, and yet I am in perfect peace. This peace is resting on me, has lifted every weight off me. I wish there were words adequate to explain it, I simply cannot.

The problems are real, and they are great, But the Peace of God is greater. Today I want to encourage all to please take some time to meditate on the passage below, and I invite you to accept His Peace, it is true, it does surpass all understanding.

Philippians 4:4–7 4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Ray
